Freshman year I wasn’t really all that into DECA. As the years went by I got more and more involved. By my senior year I couldn’t get enough of it. Looking back into my years at the high school some of my best moments were right there in the alcove, deca prep or the events we held. Not only did DECA help me with being professional outside of school but, it helped me talk to people in general. This club brings people close to one another. One of my closest friends in high school turned out to be my DECA Advisor. If I had a chance to change anything about my time in DECA, it would be to get more involved sooner.

When I first joined DECA I didn’t realize that this club would have a serious impact on my life. I used to be extremely shy and not very outgoing and by the time I was a senior, that all changed. DECA allows you to grow in more ways than just your knowledge of business and I will be forever grateful for my time apart of WHS DECA.

Before I joined DECA all I really knew was that it was a business club, at the time I didn’t want a career in the business field and I had no interest in the club. After weeks of Cunha telling me “You’d be so good at DECA I know it.” I finally caved and joined the club. A few hours after my first competition I found Cunha and told her “Okay fine I like DECA now.”. I haven’t looked back since. DECA provided me with valuable knowledge through real life scenarios that simply cannot be taught in a classroom. Joining DECA was the best decision I made during my high school career, thanks Cunha.
